About the Role:
Merck Research Laboratories - Early Biologics Characterization (Boston) is seeking a highly motivated Protein Analytics Contractor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the execution of protein characterization workflows with a strong focus on mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and other biophysical assays.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform LC-MS-based characterization of therapeutic proteins, including intact MS and peptide mapping.
Operate high-resolution MS instruments (e.g., Orbitraps, Q-TOF) and liquid handling platforms (e.g., UPLC systems).
Analyze data using software tools like BioPharma Finder, BioConfirm; generate detailed characterization reports.
Support biophysical assays such as SEC, HIC, CE-SDS, DSF, DLS, and buffer exchange.
Troubleshoot equipment and maintain high-throughput workflows.
Document experiments in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN); follow and enhance SOPs.

Qualifications:
B.S. in protein sciences, bio/chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field (M.S./Ph.D. preferred).
B.S. with 6+ years, M.S. with 4+ years, or Ph.D. with 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Required Experience:
Industry experience in LC-MS-based protein analysis.
Hands-on sample preparation and operation of MS instrumentation.
Data interpretation and reporting using biopharma-focused tools.

Preferred Experience:
Empower software and ELN proficiency.
Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems.

Must-Haves:
Hands-on large molecule (antibody) experience.
Proficiency in LC-MS analysis.
